I finally have something to write about because I finally did something interesting this week and weekend!
First on Wednesday evening I went to a Yankees game with a bunch of work people. It was really fun because it was a different crew than who I usually hang out with and I enjoyed getting to know other people that I don't always get to talk to in the office.
At my job we have summer fridays, we come in early and stay a bit later all week so that we are able to get off on Friday at 1 PM. This Friday a work friend really wanted to take my roommate and me to Coney Island. I was super excited about this because it had been a tough week and I really needed some silly, ridiculous fun.
We got to Coney Island and I was honestly amazed at the absurdly tacky theme park, but I loved it. We rode the Cyclone (oldest wooden roller coaster in the world) which was so Beyonce of us and it was really fun. We ate Nathan's french fries which my friend had talked up the entire trip there, and I must admit they were amazing. We sat on the Coney Island beach as well, though let me just say it left much to be desired. There was trash EVERYWHERE, on the beach, in the water, you get what I'm saying, no swimming there.
The next day I laid in bed watching TV until 2 which is exactly what I needed. It was the laziest day I have had in a long time and I couldn't have been happier. Then I went to the farmers market at Union Square and got some vegetables and splurged on a mini apple pie because it looked that good. Then I ran into that same work friend, Ariel, in Madison Square Park. We sat in the park for a while and enjoyed the first breeze New York has felt in weeks-it was glorious.
Today, I went to Long Beach with my roommate. Nothing makes me happier than laying in the sand and swimming in the ocean, except maybe hanging with Farley. Anyways it was really just a pleasant weekend and I enjoyed the ridiculous fun and leisure time.
