Since the last time I blogged I do feel like quite a bit has happened! First, I was home for Thanksgiving which is always great. See the picture to the left, thats about what we did all break and I couldn't have been happier. At some points both Ava and Farley would try and get into one small chair with me at once, now thats love. Anyways Thanksgiving was wonderful - it is always nice to see my entire family. It is not often that we are all able to get together so I always appreciate those moments. We decorated our family tree before I left (and cut it a little close to my flight) which is always one of my favorite family events. Upon returning to NYC for really only 3 weeks I still feel as though I have been doing a lot! |
First, my friend Ariel and I went around NYC and did the touristy Christmas activities New York is known for. To start the day we shopped around Bryant Park's Christmas shops - I did get the boys something they'll probably not understand but I am excited to get them for the two of them! Then we walked around and looked at the Macy's, Saks and Bloomingdales window displays. I always thought that would be such a fun job! I watched a documentary on making those window displays once and it is not all fun and games. Then we headed to the tree at Rockefeller Center, which is my favorite Christmas thing to see. We got there a little later in the day so it was a bit crowded making our viewing of the tree brief, as we are both very averse to crowds. During this season the MTA decided to resurrect a subway train from the 1930's that is running on the M line, which we really wanted to see. We were both obsessed with the old ads, of course - pics below!
The next item of business was that I took my first business trip ever! It was to DC and honestly I just love that city so much that it wouldn't have mattered what I worked on, I was just happy to be there. I was there for some internal meetings for a client I work on, and because the digital headquarters is in DC we all thought it was time for me to make a trip down. I also was able to see my good friend Jordan from Elon. We took a long walk around the monuments. Its funny because I have been to DC so many times in my life and feel like I have seen it all but it had been years since I had walked the monuments. We didn't make it to good 'ol Abe but went over to the White House Christmas tree instead. That's right you heard me, I have seen three trees in 2 states this season.
I returned from DC on Thursday and had our company holiday party (which I helped plan) Thursday night. That party was a lot more fun that I thought it would be, we had it at this really pretty venue and was of course open bar so who can hate that? Pics below!
My final update is that both friends from Elon came to town this past weekend and I was also able to see my cousin Jenna! Jenna and I have been trying and trying to see each other since we are the only two family members living up north but we just hadn't been able to make it work yet. Jenna and Jonathan were coming into the city to see the Rockettes (love that show, really wish I was going this year) so I met them for brunch afterwards. I took them to Sarabeth's (one of my favorites) and it was really good to see them - it had been quite some time since we'd seen each other so I was really excited that they were coming in.
I also had a group of friends from Elon in town. They came for Santacon which is in my opinion the worst thing to ever happen in NYC. Thousands of people dress up in various Santa outfits and drink excessively all day. This could be fun but since there are just so many people it ends up being impossible to move around the street - not my idea of a good time. I stole the below images from various insta accounts!

I head home this Friday for the Christmas holiday where I look forward to consuming lots of those peanut butter cookies I love so much. and chicken chili. and mom's tacos. Basically give me all the food.
